Our favourite highlighters!

As you may or may not know, we are both just obsessed with highlighters! We absolutely love the different glowy radiant effects that each one has. We never feel like our makeup is complete without a bit of highlight on, and over time we've both worked up quite a stash! So, we thought we'd share with you our favourite highlighters - ranging from cream, powder and liquid.

First up is this liquid highlighter from MAC. This is actually from Ellie Goulding's range that she recently released. I find this highlighter really great for if you just want a subtle healthy glow. It is super pigmented too so you only need a little drop of it for it to look amazing! It's a beautiful rose pink colour as well, which is super for achieving a natural makeup look. In one word, this highlighter is AMAZING! Both Abby and I have this and we both adore it! It's from the fairly new high street makeup brand; Makeup Revolution. As it's a baked powder, it means it's really easy to dust on over your powder with no worries. It is ridiculously pigmented - which means it lasts for so long! I absolutely love the metallic gold colour that this highlighter produces. I especially love wearing this one when I have fake tan on because it is a warmer tone so suits tanned skin really well! I purchased this highlighter just a few months back, and it's definitely become an all time favourite of mine. This is the Glow Pot in the shade "Polish" from Topshop. I heard so many good reviews about this, so when I went to Topshop I tested it and instantly fell in love! It is a gorgeous champagne/rose gold colour. I absolutely love how the light hits it when you're wearing it, it makes it look even more amazing! This is a cream highlighter so I never tend to powder before putting this on as it can make your base go a bit funny, however I've never had any troubles with it and wear it almost every single day! Here are three highlighters that are included in the Makeup Revolution "Ultra Contour" palette. This is a great palette which I use pretty much every single day! The one I use the most is probably number 1, it's a pearl pink shade with a stunning metallic finish. Number 2 I was a bit more reluctant to use as it was a different colour to any highlighter's I'd used before! However, I was pleasantly surprised and it is a beautiful cool white/silvery tone which is stunning! It looks great on the inner corner of my eyes as well, almost doubling up as a white eye shadow! Number 3 is a lovely champagne colour with pink marbling running through it, which is perfect if you want more of a blush makeup finish. These colours are perfect on their own, but also to sweep on top of a liquid or a cream highlighter to give it that extra shine! You can purchase this palette here.

'Love at First Blush' - Soap and Glory

First of all I must say how much of a fan I am of good blush as well as good highlighter, and this product works amazingly for both. I've had this for nearly 2 years now would you believe, and use it frequently, so there's no question as to how worth the money it is. I'm pretty sure they've even changed the packaging slightly since I got it! I use it mostly in the day as it isn't as strong as some of the other highlighters, but it adds a natural glow which is perfect especially for days when the sun comes out. You can purchase it here.

Makeup Revolution's 'Golden Sugar' aka my absolute favourite thing in the world!
The photo on the right is of the bright white highlighter which is the main shade that I use strictly to highlight, however most of the other shades do have a certain 'sparkle' to them as well which is amazing. As with the Soap and Glory product, I love this as it acts as a blush as well as highlighter. I only recently bought it and have not stopped using it! The two shades at the end that have less shimmer can be used as a base for contour/bronzer as well which helps a lot in creating a defined look. You can purchase it here.

The 'Speedy Highlighter' from Collection is one of the first highlighters I bought and a trusty favourite of mine. I use it after applying foundation but before powder and it is more creamy than a powder highlighter. I would definitely say that this can be used for both day and night looks, it simply depends how much you put on and whether you powder over the top! As it was only £3.99 and I was so impressed with it, I also picked up their 'speedy blush' which is a dark tone perfect for winter in the shade 'pinch me', and apply it in the same way. Review of the Benefit '12 Days' Advent Calendar!

So, I received the coolest present for Christmas! My mom knows how much I love Benefit products, so she saw this and kindly bought it for me!

It is most definitely the greatest advent calendar - ever. I opened a door every day after Christmas and I was super happy with every single product I got! Even some of my absolute faves cropped up in there, like POREfessional, "They're Real!" Mascara and the High Beam Highlighter. I have even discovered a new love for some products that I'd never tried out before. Which makes me want to go and buy the bigger version of each one!

All of the products that were in the calendar are as follows:

Our Favourite Christmas Presents!

I completely forgot that I asked for this Audrey book off my parents months ago, it was a nice surprise to open it and remember how much I wanted it. The Laduree book i've also wanted for so so long!! Ellie bought it for me, even though i'm hardly a baker myself, its just so pretty and a novelty to have. Even the packaging it came in was wrapped up so pretty I'm absolutely in love.

The brushes were another present I asked for, they're the rose gold collection from Makeup Revolution. If you've never bought any of their products, now is the time to! the blush set and brush shampoo are also from there. It's brilliant as they have a website so you can search around for products you might not be able to find in the stores, eveything is unbelievably cheap too! I already own so many of their products and i'm so happy to have received more.

I was in desperate need for some new slippers and these were perfect for me, Ellie did get the same pair in a different design as you will see below! They're super comfy and from Daisy Street, but bought from ASOS (I know this as I asked for them haha).

A poodle gift! Ofcourse! Where would I be without gifts centred around poodles?! Ellie actually got me this ring, I love it so much. The design is really nice and as everyone knows, anything with a poodle on i'm bound to love, right?! It's size adjustable too which is brilliant as I can wear it all the time even if I'm wearing other rings, as it fits perfectly on any finger.

So the jewellery box and the two candles are the presents in this photo, due to it being mirrored it was rather hard to get a photo of haha! I've been moaning about wanting to sort my room out so much recently and my parents started by buying this for me, as my old jewellery box was so old and tatty I had to get rid of it. I love it so much, it fits so much nicer on my desk than the previous one and it looks so much neater too. The 'A' candle was from Ellie and the other was from my Brother and family, they both look so cute on top of it and go with my room so nicely now as i'm desperately trying to make things look brighter and neater!

So I nearly cried when I opened these, the Dita Von Teese and Brooke Candy Lipsticks were both from Ellie (and her family) and i've been lusting after these two since they came out but I never got around to buying them. Ellie knows I adore both Brooke Candy and Dita Von Teese, obviously they made perfect presents for me. The other MAC lipstick I got to add to my collection was from my moms best friend, it's in the shade 'MY INNER FEMME' and is a lovely bright red, of course red lipsticks are my all time favourite, I can never own enough!

This palette is INCREDIBLE. I can't believe how nice it is and I'm so happy I own it! It is just what I expected and more! The colours are such a treat and they're all so pigmented which I absolutely love in an eyeshadow palette. I cannot recommend this enough, definitely check it out! 

I have been waiting MONTHS for this collab, I am extremely over the moon with the items I've got so far, and I will definitely be purchasing more. First of all, how nice is the packaging?! The two lipsticks are amazing (Left: Only You, Right: Without Your Love) They are lovely pinky nude shades. However Only You is quite a bit darker, you can't really make that out in the photo! The highlighter is also great. Look out for a blogpost soon about our fave highlighters!

My mom got me this, I have wanted a colouring book for so long, although I had no idea a cat colouring book existed! Everyone who will know me, knows how much I have an obsession for cats, so this is the perfect gift for me! I have already started it and I love it. It's super calming and relaxing, especially to do before bed!

Another cat related gift, yay! (no sarcasm intended!) My sister got me this mug and I think its super cute, I especially love the ears and the handle that looks like a little tail. Definitely becoming my new fave mug in the house, haha! I also received this dressing gown (New Look) for Christmas. It is THE best thing ever, quite possibly my fave gift! Its the softest thing in the world - I love it.

This copper pineapple money box/ornament is another one of my absolute faves this Christmas. As you guys know I had my room redecorated and I am really into having little splashes of copper/rose gold here and there, and this fits right in! I just love how stylish it looks, and it's so shiny!!

This is a new night dress which I LOVE! I think nighties are super cute to sleep in, I rarely sleep in anything else, and I was in need of a new one and this one was a great find by my sister. It's actually from Adolescent Clothing which I am definitely going to have a browse of.

Im in love with this perfume and lipstick I was given. They even match each other! The perfume is the most amazing smell, and lasts a really long time throughout the day which I hardly find with my perfumes. The lipstick is definitely the perfect shade of red - you know what I'm talking about! I adore how it looks and the gold exterior.

Abby (and her family) actually got me these for Christmas and I'm obsessed. The candle smells just how you'd expect it to, it's crazy! Definitely a favourite of mine. The snow fairy as you all know is a complete winner, you can never have too much! I also got a pack of these lovely little soap chunks which all smell super nice, I'm excited to try them out!

These slippers are also a favourite of mine. They're from Daisy Street and they are so so comfy. As you saw above, Abby also received these but in a different colour/design, weird how we had no idea?! I really love them, and they look super cute teamed with my dressing gown.
